People Saving a Starving Manatee in the De Soto Canal

Here is a video of people saving a manatee within the De Soto Canal.

“Unified Command staff are continuing the supplemental feeding trial for manatees at the Temporary Field Response Station in Brevard County, operating 7 days a week. Staff are also collecting and evaluating as many carcasses along the Atlantic coast as possible. Through carcasses examinations, scientists investigate manatee health and impacts from the ongoing mortality event, which can guide manatee conservation actions. The full weekly update can be found here: myfwc.com/research/manatee/rescue-mortality-response/ume/. Report sightings of sick, injured, orphaned or dead manatees to our Wildlife Alert Hotline: 888-404-FWCC (3922).”
